Modifier rules: required, limited, or any

Updated July 4, 2026

Every modifier group answers one question: how many options must (or may) the customer pick? The builder gives you three rules:

  • Required — pick exactly one. Spice level, size of rice, salad dressing. The customer can't check out without choosing.
  • Limited — pick up to N. "Choose up to 3 toppings."
  • Any — pick as many as they like. Extras and add-ons.

The details that matter

  • Defaults — pre-select the normal choice so the fast path is one tap. Customers can change it.
  • Price deltas — each option can add to the price, be free, or even *reduce* it (a negative delta covers "no protein" discounts).
  • Per-option stock — out of one topping? Mark that option out of stock without touching the rest of the group.
  • Group visibility — disable a whole group to hide it from ordering temporarily.
