Set up your kitchen display

Updated July 4, 2026

The kitchen display (KDS) turns incoming orders into live tickets on a tablet — no more shouting orders or losing paper. Setup is: sign the tablet in, set up your stations, done.

Set up the tablet

  1. Open the KitchenRush kitchen app on your tablet.
  2. A manager signs in once with their admin login — email and password, a phone code, or Google.
  3. Running more than one location? Pick which location this tablet belongs to. It starts receiving that location's orders immediately.
  4. Day to day, kitchen staff use their personal PINs on the tablet — the manager login just sets it up.

Stations

If your kitchen has more than one station — grill, fryer — create them in the KDS section's Stations tab and assign menu items or whole categories to each. Every order item routes to its station; as long as you've set a default station, anything unmapped lands there so nothing falls through (with no default station set, unmapped items just aren't tracked — so set one). You can also flag a station as the expo: items don't route there, but the expo view shows the whole order converging from every station for final plating and a quality check.

Who signs in on the tablet

Kitchen staff sign in on the tablet with their personal PIN — see Add your team for setting PINs.

Note: Want customers to see their order progress? An order board display shows live order statuses using first names only — no phone numbers, emails, or addresses ever appear on it.
