Handle cash-later orders

Updated July 4, 2026

If you've enabled cash at pickup or on delivery, customers can order online and pay when they collect. Those orders flow through the queue like any other — with one difference: the payment badge reads Pending instead of paid.

The flow

  1. The order arrives with a Pending payment badge. Prep it normally.
  2. At handoff, take the cash at the register — recording the cash payment marks the order paid and drops it into the drawer count.
  3. If they don't show, cancel the order — nothing was charged, so there's nothing to refund.
Note: Your cash caps have your back: any cash-later order above the maximum you set has to prepay by card instead, so nobody can promise you $400 in cash and vanish. Cash tips aren't part of the online order — whatever lands in the jar is the tip.
