When the platform fee applies (and when it doesn't)

One rule, applied consistently: 5% of the food subtotal, on card payments, once per order. Everything else follows from that.
The fee applies to
- Card payments at online checkout (including Apple Pay and Google Pay).
- Keyed-in card payments at the register.
- The card portion of a split payment — charged once on the order's food subtotal, not once per card.
The fee never applies to
- Tax, tips, and delivery fees — they're excluded from the calculation entirely.
- Cash orders — no card processing means no fee.
Worked example: $60.00 of food + $4.95 tax + $9.00 tip + $5.00 delivery fee, paid by card → fee is 5% × $60.00 = $3.00. The same order paid in cash at pickup → $0.
Note: The fee is deducted inside the card charge itself — what lands in your balance is already net. You'll see it itemized in the payout drill-down, never as a separate bill.
